The below video is a case study of a 400HP, 3600RPM (2 Pole) Boiler Feed Water Pump Motor that had vibration problems after a used motor was put in place of the original motor. This was originally presented at the 2016 Reliability, Process, & Maintenance Symposium (RPM) in Kalamazoo, Michigan on September 13-14, 2016.

About the author:

Tom Spettel is a Senior Reliability Engineer at HECO. He is an ANSI/ISO Certified, Category IV Vibration Analyst. Tom’s background includes serving as an US Army Medical Specialist. He then worked in a chemical plant/refinery supervising inspections on large steam turbines, compressors, and pumps. Later, he became a vibration analyst, where he saw the similarities to the medical field.
