5 Reasons to Attend the 2024 RPM Symposium - HECO

August 21, 2024

There are many reasons to attend this year’s RPM (Reliability, Process, and Maintenance) Symposium!

Each year, HECO gathers industry leaders to discuss topics of process, innovation, and the best approaches to the maintenance and reliability of industrial electric motors and other rotating and fluid processing equipment. The 2024 conference will engage attendees in discussions, learning sessions, and networking opportunities focused on what solutions are available so that companies can increase the reliability of their equipment.

This year’s event will take place Oct. 1-2 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

If you (or whoever you have to convince to pay for the travel costs and justify a few days off-site) need convincing, here are the top 5 reasons to attend:

  1. 24 Different Educational Breakout Sessions – From enhancing the lifespan of equipment and properly servicing pumps, motors, and sensors to evaluating visual inspection points and modernizing systems, you can choose from 24 breakout sessions delivered by industry experts throughout the two-day event. The sessions are intended to be relevant and informative for anyone related to maintenance or reliability in an industrial facility or plant. These educational classes are not sales pitches; they are designed to help professionals get more out of their equipment and better understand their facilities. An event schedule and descriptions of each session are available online.
  2. 16 Exhibitors on Display – In addition to the 24 educational sessions, there will be 16 exhibitor booths for attendees to visit during the event. See the inside of electric motors, bearing samples, shaft current demonstrations, ultrasound probes, condition monitoring equipment, and more right at the event during the designated time. This is a rare chance to talk to a variety of respected vendors in the maintenance and reliability-related field. View all of the exhibitors on the RPM event site.
  3. HECO Electric Motor Repair Shop Tour – In addition to the educational presentations and the exhibition hall, you will also have the opportunity to take a guided tour of HECO’s electric motor shop in Kalamazoo. You can see the full machine shop, motor winding room, assembly and disassembly area, along with new motor inventory. Shuttle bussing is provided from the conference venue to HECO’s facility, so transportation is covered as well!
  4. It’s Located in Downtown Kalamazoo – The Radisson Plaza Hotel is conveniently located in downtown Kalamazoo, steps from restaurants, history, and entertainment. The venue’s guestrooms have been completely transformed and offer stunning views of the city’s bustling activity day and night. On-site amenities include a fully equipped athletic club, a full-service spa and salon, a restaurant, Starbucks, and shops. Whether you travel solo or with a co-worker or partner, there is something for everyone at the Radisson. There are blocks of hotel rooms reserved so you even get a discounted hotel stay!
  5. It’s FREE and Based in the Midwest! – The RPM Symposium is a free event for attendees. All you have to do is visit the event website and register before Sept. 15. Kalamazoo, Michigan is a great location to visit and is conveniently located roughly halfway between Detroit and Chicago on Interstate 94. It’s a scenic and manageable drive from many locations including Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, or Kentucky or conveniently accessed with a direct flight into Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids’ Gerald R. Ford International Airport, just an hour’s drive away.
