HECO acquires Reliability Concepts, expands predictive maintenance services and reliability product offerings

July 8, 2026

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – HECO is proud to announce its acquisition of Reliability Concepts, LLC, and Alignment Supplies, Inc. The acquisition expands HECO’s vibration analysis, predictive maintenance services, ecommerce-based reliability product sales, and practical reliability tools for industrial customers.

This marks HECO’s fifth acquisition in the predictive maintenance and reliability space since 2013. Based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, HECO offers repair, product sales, field service, predictive, and equipment management services to a wide range of industrial applications east of the Mississippi River from its 10 service centers and area hubs located in five states.

Reliability Concepts provides predictive maintenance and reliability services throughout the Midwest to customers in the foundry, metals, food processing, manufacturing, and other industrial markets. With offices in Maumee, Ohio, and Coldwater, Michigan, its reliability-based products are sold globally through its ecommerce platform and industry relationships.

The company will become part of HECO’s Predictive Service Group. HECO will continue Reliability Concepts’ existing products while also expanding sales, marketing, training, and support around the B.A.T. Belt Alignment Tool, DigiBelt, FIN-LOC, and related offerings.

The acquisition complements HECO’s broader investment in predictive and reliability technologies, including its involvement with Skyler. Together, these efforts reflect HECO’s continued focus on helping industrial customers move from reactive maintenance toward stronger, more connected reliability programs.

“This is not just about adding customers or revenue,” said Justin Hatfield, President of HECO. “This is about adding good people, strengthening our predictive maintenance team, and continuing to build practical reliability solutions for industrial customers.

“Reliability Concepts fits HECO very well. We have respected what Mike Olszewski and the Reliability Concepts team have built, and we are excited to carry it forward while giving customers access to the broader HECO team,” Hatfield added.

A key part of the acquisition is the B.A.T. Belt Alignment Tool, a laser-based belt alignment system designed to help maintenance teams quickly and accurately align belt-driven equipment. Misaligned belts and pulleys can contribute to premature belt wear, bearing problems, vibration, energy loss, and unplanned downtime. The B.A.T. helps maintenance and reliability teams identify alignment issues more clearly and make corrections more efficiently in the field.

The B.A.T. product line includes laser alignment tools and related kits used for belt and pulley alignment across a wide range of industrial applications.

DigiBelt complements the B.A.T. by helping technicians measure and verify belt tension, giving customers a more complete approach to belt-driven equipment reliability. FIN-LOC adds another practical reliability product to the platform, supporting faster and more consistent vibration data collection on equipment with cooling fins.

“The Reliability Concepts brand has always been about helping maintenance and reliability people solve real problems,” said Mike Olszewski, founder of Reliability Concepts. “HECO understands that mission. They have the technical depth, customer focus, and long-term commitment to grow what we started while taking care of our customers and our team.

“I am excited about what this means for the future of the B.A.T., DigiBelt, FIN-LOC, the service group, and the customers we serve. I also look forward to continuing to work alongside HECO during the transition and beyond, helping support customers, share product knowledge, and keep momentum going with the Reliability Concepts team,” Olszewski said.
