HECO Acquires Alran of Redford Township, MI to Open Metro Detroit Service Center - HECO

HECO Inc. (HECO), a company that helps industrial plants utilize more dependable electric motors and equipment, is excited to announce that it has acquired Alran, LLC (Alran) of Redford Township, MI. Alran was founded in 2005 by Allen and Randy Altman.

Since its inception, Alran has provided electric motor repair and rewinding services for industrial clients in the metropolitan Detroit area with a focus on motors up to 500HP. “When I first met Randy and toured the shop, I could tell instantly that Alran has a great, experienced, team and utilizes the correct equipment to serve their clients” stated Justin Hatfield, President of HECO. “It was obvious to me from the first interaction that there was a cultural and strategic fit between the two companies. I’m excited for us to have the opportunity to build on the great business that Alran already is!”

Randy Altman, President of Alran, added “HECO was a great choice for us to transition our team and customers to. They are motor people and that was an important factor for us. Also, being part of a larger company will allow us to focus on what we do well and have a deep bench of motor and equipment knowledge and experience that we can draw from. Our customers will be excited to see all the additional services, offerings, and increased capabilities that we can now bring to them as part of HECO.”

Alran will now operate as HECO’s “Metro Detroit Service Center” at its current location on Glendale in Redford Township, MI. This location will be one of three service centers that HECO has along with Kalamazoo, MI and Lexington, KY.

Randy Altman will serve as Operations Manager for HECO in the location. Hatfield added that “It was crucial for us to have Randy join the HECO team after the acquisition. His knowledge and experience will be a crucial part of the success of our new Metro Detroit Service Center in the coming years.” In addition to Randy, all other current employees will be retaining their positions within HECO.

HECO is a third-generation family business that was started as an electric motor repair shop in Kalamazoo, MI in 1959. HECO has grown over the years and now through a mix of Repair, Product Sales, Predictive, and Equipment Management helps industrial facilities to see what’s going on with their equipment, get rid of issues as they come up, and stop the issues from happening again. This provides HECO’s clients with peace of mind and confidence that their motors and equipment will operate effectively, have longevity, and reduce total cost of ownership.

Alran will mark HECO’s sixth acquisition in the last ten years as it continues to push towards growth while remaining focused on the midwestern-USA.
